Description

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts by adding a second step of verification when you sign in. This means that in addition to your password, you'll also need to enter a code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone. The verification code can be generated by the Google Authenticator app on your phone, even if you don't have a network or cellular connection. • Sync your Authenticator codes to your Google Account and across your devices. This way, you can always access them even if you lose your phone. • Set up your Authenticator accounts automatically with a QR code. This is quick and easy, and it helps to ensure that your codes are set up correctly. • Support for multiple accounts. You can use the Authenticator app to manage multiple accounts, so you don't have to switch between apps every time you need to sign in. • Support for time-based and counter-based code generation. You can choose the type of code generation that best suits your needs. • Transfer accounts between devices with a QR code. This is a convenient way to move your accounts to a new device. To use Google Authenticator with Google, you need to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. To get started visit http://www.google.com/2step

I never write reviews on the app store. Ever. However this app almost completely screwed me over today. I’ve had this as my authenticator for years, everything was working fine. I never had any issues with it ever. That was until I had to log out of one of my accounts and log back in, that’s when I saw a message that said “we have changed” and I didn’t even have time to read the message, but next thing I know, I have no clue how to use the app and now I’m locked out of every single account I put under the app. This should not happen. Companies should not hold this power to randomly change everything out of nowhere and block you out of everything. This is not right, and this is a perfect example of it.

Once installed on iPhone, I lost the ability to receive OTP text messages from any of my financial or other sites that require it for access. Tried everything to correct problem to include uninstalling the app but still no luck. Ended up contacting Verizon support and they had to reset something in my text message app to correct the problem. Use app at your own risk.

Just as “Niantic tryna scam” stated 5 MONTHS AGO on January 8, 2024 of the potential to lose your ENTIRE Google Account; is very REAL! Allow me to share my experience: My issue with the authenticator app is that the six digits that are generated WILL NOT authenticate even the Google account ITSELF, nor my Facebook account; even though it is generating the codes to be used in 60 increments (as they change to a different six digit code). Even though they DO MATCH once entered; I was STILL getting the error message “not the correct code. Try a different code” each and every time! Just IMAGINE if for whatever reason you possibly needed to or wanted to sign out of your Google account (like to purchase a new phone); the way it is NOW; you WILL lose everything in your Google account, because the authenticator will not “authenticate” the Google account to even ALLOW you to connect to it; even though Google already KNOWS your identity because you have to go through the two-step verification process anyway! Once your entire Google account information is gone; IT'S GONE!

I can use Google Authenticator to authenticate to just about every service under the sun, but if you have any other Google apps on your phone, you can't use Google Authenticator to authenticate to Google. You have to open Gmail or YouTube instead. The whole point of the app is to authenticate, but you can't use it to authenticate to services for the company that makes it. Why does Google have so little faith in their own product?
