A batrayal to those who supported this business by PURCHASING the app, only to later be forced into a subscription. Not even the best birding app to begin with….I will now remove it from my device. Goodbye Ibird Pro!

Changing the rules years after a purchase is unethical, dishonest and just plain greedy. Apple’s rules require you to let your legacy users maintain the functionality of the app purchased when you change to a subscription based service. So either let us use the app as purchased, or refund our purchase price.

Waste of money, paid 30$ for the app in 2010 now they require monthly subscription!! You can get same info for free with other apps. Developers told me to email them for free month subscription with no one emailing me back. I feel like I was scammed and wasted my money thinking I would always have access to this app. Would like my money back.

Used to recomemnd this app when I purchased it for $50 several years ago along with several add-ons for more. Like many others, I was taken for a ride, as this lifetime purchase was removed. I no longer will support this or other companies that do this to their customers. Too bad, as there was a lot of knowledge compiled, but not ever enough to justify the value / money that was taken back by this company. I'd like my initial money back, since I can no longer use the app.
  • Best and most informative birding app

I can’t say i’ve tried them all but i can say this is the best of the ones i’ve used. It is by far the most comprehensive and informational, with tremendous ease of information access in all the subheadings right on one page at the bottom. I have found it more useful than Merlin, Audubon, allaboutbirds.

Paid for the app then they moved to a subscription model. Want me to subscribe to an app I have already paid for but apparently “do not own”. So the developers decided that was ok to screw over people who had paid in good faith. The offered a monthly or an annual subscription. But I guess given the blow back they now offer a “lifetime” subscription. I thought that’s what I had. They want to sell me it again. No thanks. I’m still in the first lifetime, but apparently that doesn’t count. Keep away from these people.
  • Shady switch to forced subscription

After selling expensive “lifetime” access to app. Blamed it on Apple and offered nominal discount to subscribe.

The app is a great birding app but……. I purchased this app quite a while ago. Suddenly I cannot open it. It gives me the option to get a “Free Trial” or “Restore Purchases”. Obviously because I already paid for the app I chose “Restore Purchases” and then it tells me “there is no record of a subscription” and that’s it….no other choices. Too pricey of an app to have to have to purchase it a second time.
  • Why Am I Paying Again?

I paid for iBird Pro ultimate years ago for a lifetime membership and now I have to pay a monthly fee?! What in the world did I pay all that money for?! Their site says “we changed from a paid app to a subscription based app…” That’s STILL a paid app! The calls/songs used to be so much better, a much higher quality, now it sounds like any yokel can upload… I thought this all was basically a porting of that already available on Cornell’s Ornithology Lab store? It’s not the same as it was, this is for sure.
  • Slimy and duplicitous update

DO NOT UPDATE. After many years of longing, I bought iBird Pro in February and now, just five months later, it's useless. Now, after the update, the only thing that displays is an advertisement for a subscription. The advertisement is not dismissible either. It's shameful Apple still let's updates like this through the App Store. This isn't an update; it's a different product. Why would the makers disable existing pro customers when they've decided to switch business models? Gross. I think this "update" is both slimy and duplicitous.
