  • A good proxy for overall food quality

    Restaurants that don’t use seed oils tend to make other smart choices for the quality of ingredients they use. It’s not one to one by any means but at a no seed oil restaurant I’m more likely to find grass fed beef, wild caught fish and pastured poultry. So checking out what’s near me in Seed Oil Scout is a better quick-and-dirty way to find a restaurant than Yelp.

    This app is great in theory… but it’s the first time I’m out and about and want to use it and it won’t open :( I had starred restaurants I wanted to visit in the city I’m in this weekend… and now nothing.

    Thinking it was going to be beneficial to use I downloaded it and to my surprise (not really because nothing is free) it was a pay to use app. Don’t bother use common sense. Read and ask where you go if they use seed oils. Most everyone know the majority of restaurants will use seed oils. Just need to choose wisely.

    I like the concept but the app stopped working which led me to discover this app offers zero support. If they can’t make a working app and can’t offer support they’ve earned a bad rating.

    1. Not very user friendly 2. Basically all chains and fast food place are out, which is common sense , I don’t see why anyone need an App for it? 3. All restaurants that advertise as “organic or healthy etc are flagged as good. Again, isn’t it common sense? 4. Most restaurants don’t disclose about what oil they use, so again being flagged in yellow / be caution zone isn’t helpful because it’s common sense. $35/per year for what? I don’t see the value. Maybe other do.

    I love the concept of this app but since there is only data for like 12 restaurants in the whole city of Birmingham it’s not very useful to me or worth the subscription. Maybe later on if you get more data from restaurants in my area.
