  • Dreadful hyphenation and lack thereof

    I use the iPad version of WSJ Print Edition. The software converts hyphenated words in the printed edition to non-hyphenated words on my iPad. An example is that “two-day” becomes “twoday”. Then when the software decides to split a word on my iPad over two lines, it adds two hyphens instead of one. An example is that “educate” becomes “edu- -cate”. Surely software can fix this. This wasn’t a problem 2 years ago, before the WSJ canned its excellent app and replaced it with the far inferior app. Even my local newspaper that serves a mere 10,000 people uses better iPad app software then the WSJ does.
