  • One of few essential apps

    This application is an essential application for anyone who travels. The application provides information sooner than airports, in more detail, and gives you a way to look at historic information about your own travels. Not only this, but they offer the option for purchase the application as a one-time purchase. I’d encourage you to use a subscription so that development continues, but having the option is great to encourage any type of user to use the application. Finally, it’s share features are really valuable. My parents will sometimes be traveling and I can share information with them about their flights, helping them navigate the challenges of flying without a ton of hassle. I recommend this app to any traveler, whether you’re a road warrior or just going on a yearly family vacation.

    I use other apps far more, but the balance of power and design in Flighty continues to blow me away after all these years. Worth every penny every flight.

  • Good app, strange pay walls, background refresh issues

    I really like this app, definitely the best flight tracker, but it has some strange functionality that may either be bugs or just strange product design choices. 1) Not once ever has it shown me a live activity unless I first open the app. 2) Not once has it ever imported my calendar events unless I open the app. These feel related. Background app refresh is enabled as are all permissions. I use iOS betas so who knows, maybe it’s my OS. The friends feature is cute but basically useless because they have made it so that even as a paying customer I can’t associate a flight with a friend unless my friend signs up. I can see the flight but I personally find it a little offensive when I pay for a product and it doesn’t unlock everything. It’s clear they use this as a viral trigger to get you to invite others to the app (yay for the developer) but it’s definitely irritating that as a paying customer you don’t actually get full functionality.

    The app itself is fantastic and does everything it's supposed to very well. The only thing I wish it was capable of, which is likely an airline issue, would be to have an integration with the actual airlines. Manually forwarding emails or adding events to calendars to it can be imported is nice, but feels cumbersome. I wish there were a better way to handle it. Future Flighty should consider replacing services like Navan / Concur / Amex GBT. These services can't even get the booking process right, let alone all of the flight information and tracking that Flighty provides. I'd love to be able to have my team book through timely and be able to track all of their travel through this platform.

    I paid for a family membership ($90!) and am extremely disappointed with the number of data errors, particularly related to aircraft type on recent flights. I have sent dozens of reports and yet nothing has been corrected. The aircraft type is wrong for a recent LATAM flight in Brazil (it was an A320 but the app says A319) and to an upcoming flight on a 737 MAX 8 on United (this is incorrectly listed as a CRJ). I understand that there may be additional complexities on international airlines or for new aircraft (the Max 8 I’m flying on tonight is brand new) but FlightAware/Google/FlightRadar all have the correct information for these flights. Especially after reporting these issues, there is no excuse for not correcting these errors. I will not be renewing my membership due to the frequency of errors. Some of my older (pre-2015) flights also have the wrong airline listed. For example, Continental Airlines appears as Korean Air dba Copa Airlines, while Midwest Airlines and Republic dba Delta simply show as the old Republic IATA code, YX. Finally, the LATAM flight with the incorrect aircraft also has an incomplete arrival time despite other sources containing the correct information. More than anything, Flighty should have the correct aircraft information for recent flights when other sources contain accurate data.

    This app is awesome and I enjoy it for tracking my own flights as well as family and friends. However, I only gave it three starts because it’s super annoying that the app hounds you every time you open it to subscribe to their pro feature. And the pro features are cool, but far, far too expensive.

    I love this app. Lots of useful features. One suggestion is to add a “Pro Lite” or “Casual Traveler” tier. I’m never going to get my money’s worth out of the full pro version, but I’d consider purchasing a plan for a few trips a year. Please consider adding this!

  • Doesn’t take into account time difference

    I’m arriving at my destination the day after I depart and for some reason the app only recognizes the departure DATE but the time is correct. So it looks like my connecting flight is before my original departure time. Super confusing, not convenient.
